A Modular stadium hosting designed to benefit the afterlife
Ship The Stadium
After six months of research into the Evolution of Modularity in Architecture it was decided to design a modular stadium. One that stands as a statement against the absurdity of constructing a permanent stadium primarily or exclusively used during major international temporary sports events. In such cases, the residents of the hosting country often fail to experience any tangible benefits from the substantial investments made in a stadium once the tournament is over.
The Merwevierhavens in Rotterdam is chosen as the location for a ‘what-if’ case of hosting a big sports tournament. This context influenced the way in which the whole area was setup and the means by which the modules could be moved and reconfigured. With the help of present movable harbour cranes.
The prototype is designed to be a game-changer for citizens of all ages. It offers a versatile platform capable of accommodating a wide range of sporting events and cultural activities, ensuring a year-round calendar of diverse happenings. From food festivals to extreme sports, from daily fitness and leisure activities to a canvas for experimental architecture, this stadium is set to become the focal point for a variety of spaces and functions. The modules can be easily re-arranged, added, or removed to accommodate the user’s changing needs and requirements.
